6152008 Although it took two weeks to finish due to inclement weather, we completed the Fairmount Glen Miniature Golf Street Challenge event today. We ran this race 1/8 mile due to the rain we had on June 8th. Here are the results. Terry Lee drove his small block Chevy powered 89 Mustang to the $500 Fairmount Glen Miniature Golf sponsored Street Money win as he defeated Theodore Lewis, who was driving his 86 Monte Carlo. Terry worked his way through the large field and won with a .532 reaction time and ran a 7.328 at 88.91 mph on his 7.22 dial-in. Theodore settled for the runner-up spot with a .610 initiated, 9.730 at 73.66 mph run on his 9.62 dial. Tom Samsel and Klaus Dieroff were the semifinalists. In Super Pro it was Mike LaRose driving his Competition Wedge Racing prepared, 68 GTX Hustle Stuff to the win over Carl Drake Jr. who was in his big block Chevy powered dragster. Carl held the slight reaction time advantage, .514 to .529, but he ran just under his 4.95 dial with a 4.948 at 136.35 mph runner-up pass while Mike won it with a 6.584 at 104.14 mph run on his 6.57 dial. Scott Forbes was the semifinalist in his 92 Chevy pick-up.
Pro Bike action saw David Ashby ride his 93 Kawasaki to the win in a double breakout final with Cliff Cronk who was on his 01 Kawasaki. Cliff got the nod at the tree with a .581 to .685 r.t. advantage, but couldnt scrub off enough e.t. and ran under his 7.00 dial with a 6.927 at 96.53 mph run. David ran an 8.527 at 78.26 mph on his 8.56 dial for the win. Anthony McKeen Sr. and Eric Conklin were the semifinalists. Heath Smith returned to the Pro Sled winners circle as he guided his 01 Cat to the win by defeating a red lighting Dennis Boston Jr. driving his 96 Ski-doo. Heath had a .554 light and ran a 6.079 at 115.42 mph on his 6.05 dial. Dennis shut off after his foul start. Mike Stiles was the semifinalist on his 94 Ski-doo. In Modified, Eddie Reilly wheeled his 85 Long Ranger to the win defeating Tom Samsel driving an 81 Chevy Monte Carlo. Eddie had a .562 light and ran a 6.866 at 96.38 mph on his 6.85 dial, while Tom runner-upped with a .579 initiated, 6.700 at 104.88 mph run on his 6.61 dial-in. Matt Cole was the semifinalist.
Herb Bingel III took home the Bike/Sled Combo on his 98 Ski-doo when he stopped Lisa Phelps on her 01 Polaris. Herb, who was dialed at 6.92 won it with a .734 light and ran a 7.070 at 83.31 mph. Lisa had an .842 light and ran a 7.619 at 86.20 mph for the runner-up spot. Nick Washburn was the semifinalist. In Jr. Dragster "A" action Shaquille Scott scored the win driving his new Mike Bos dragster to a final round defeat of Robbie LaPointe. Shaq won it with an 8.208 at 76.18 mph pass on his 8.18 dial. Shaqs reaction advantage was the difference as Robbie wheeled his car to a dial-in matching 7.939 at 79.80 mph runner-up effort. Morgan and Matt Bunal were the semifinalists.
This coming Sunday, June 22, we will finish running the remaining elimination rounds from the rain shortened event on the 15th. Upon completion of the June 15 program, we will run a regular NPP E.T. Series event. It will be quarter-mile pending on the weather. - Pete DeSalvo Jr. |
