6•22•2008 Under threatening skies for most of the afternoon we were able to complete our scheduled event for today June 22. With a decent turnout of race machines all in attendance were treated to some great racing action.

Super Pro saw “The Boss Man” James Smith drive his trusty ’70 Nova to the win defeating Scott Forbes in his ’92 S-10. James overcame Scott’s slight .531 to .534 reaction time advantage by nailing his 9.34 dial with a 9.349 at 144.28 mph winning pass. Scott had to settle for the runner-up spot for the second straight week with a 10.412 at 130.35 mph run on his 10.37 dial. Howie Smith was the semifinalist in his Chevy powered dragster.

For the second straight week Howard Roberts wheeled his Competition Wedge powered ’72 Duster to the Pro win. In a battle of two very impressive running, full bodied race cars, Howard stopped Bryan Backus who was out for the first time this season in his ’82 Cutlass. Howard held a huge reaction time advantage, .515 to .643 and he ran a 9.140 at 146.10 mph on his 9.07 dial, while Bryan ran a breakout 8.989 at 153.17 mph on his 9.00 dial for the runner-up spot. Bob Mayers in his 27 “T” and Tom Samsel in is Chevy powered Porsche were the semifinalists.

In Pro Bike, Rick Fies rode his ’01 Suzuki to the win defeating Keith Miller who was on his ’92 Suzuki. Rick cruised to the win with an 8.963 at a booming 156.29 mph run on his 9.04 dial-in when Keith red lighted in the other lane and wasted his 10.079 at 130.02 mph run on his 9.95 dial-in. Keith had a .493 red to Rick’s .763 light. Skip Tamburino was the semifinalist on his Kawasaki drag bike.

Derek went red with a .418 foul and shut off and watched his father score his second win of the season with a 10.017 at 125.04 mph run on his 10.11 dial-in. Mike Stiles and Herb Bingel both on Ski-doo’s were the semifinalists.

Sudsy Eastman's second Pro Sled win came at the expense of son, Derek. Pop would have been tough to beat with his .511 reaction time.

Anthony Zangari wheeled his ’99 Z/28 to the Street Money win today defeating Bob Belvick who was driving his ’01 Trans Am. Anthony had a great .518 light coupled with his 11.763 at 114.47 mph run on his 11.77 dial to stop Bob’s .559 initiated, 13.290 at 103.46 mph run on his 13.34 dial runner-up effort. Todd Minerd and Rod Skinner were the semifinalists.

In Modified, Steve Searles scored the win in his ’86 Mustang defeating a red lighting Eddie Reilly who was in his familiar ’85 Ranger. Steve had a .555 reaction time and ran a 14.007 at 94.71 mph on his 13.92 dial, while Eddie’s .487 foul negated his 10.805 at 121.00 mph run on his 10.78 dial. Mark Talmadge was the semifinalist.

The Street Trophy final saw yet another red light start and this time the benefactor was Brian Steigerwald in his ’08 Mustang.
