6•1•2008 Threatening skies and windy conditions prompted us to shorten the program to an 1/8th mile on Sunday. The rain held off and we got our third National Parts Peddler E.T. Racing Series points race of the season in without a hitch. Highlights of the weekend were Scott Forbes return to the Super Pro winners circle after taking a few years off. Secondly, Dick Aversa is quickly establishing himself as the front runner in Street Trophy as he piloted his '07 Chevy Trailblazer SS to his third-straight class win. We had a decent turnout of racers as well as the P/T Cruisers Club on hand. Here is how the action went.

Scott Forbes has returned to racing action this season after a few years off and drove his ’92 Chevy S-10 to the Super Pro win. Scott had a .527 reaction time and ran a 6.640 at 105.38 mph on his 6.65 dial to defeat a red lighting Tim Roberts. Tim driving his powerful big block Chevy powered rail had to settle for the runner-up spot for the second straight week as he narrowly missed a perfect light with a .4999 red light start and ran a 5.222 at 132.02 mph on his 5.20 dial-in. Vince Musolino was the semifinalist.

Steve Doss, who has been plagued with all sorts of unusual mechanical gremlins so far this season, returned back to normal form this week and scored his first Pro win of the season. Steve took out last week’s winner, Chris Forbes who was driving his ’69 Nova. Chris fouled with a .493 bulb and ran a 6.838 at 99.38 mph on his 6.81 dial, while Steve cruised to the win with a 6.394 at 107.93 mph run on his 6.40 dial-in. Jason Richardson was the semifinalist in his ’87 Monte Carlo.

Defending Pro Bike Champ Cory Bingel on his ’04 Suzuki took the win today, as he bought back in and defeated Anthony McKeen, Sr. who was on his Performance Harley-Davidson backed ’06 Destroyer. Cory who has been having issues of his own with his high horsepowered Suzook, got it hooked up this afternoon and won with a .621 initiated, 5.631 at 124.26 mph run on his 5.58 dial, while Anthony runner-upped with a .620 light and ran a 6.274 at 101.64 mph on his 6.22 dial. Mike McLain was the semifinalist on his ’02 Kawasaki.

Chad Wilcox won the Pro Sled title today as he rode his ’02 Arctic Cat to the win over a red-lighting Herb Bingel who was on his ’98 Ski-doo. Chad cut a .605 light and ran a 6.492 at 102.70 mph on his 6.44 dial, while Herb shut it off after his .496 bulb and ran a 7.35 at 71.67 mph on his 6.91 dial. Derek Eastman and Tim Phelps, both on Ski-doos, were the semifinalists.

In Street Money, it was Terry Lee in his Chevy powered ’89 Mustang scoring the win over Anthony Zangari who was in his familiar ’99 Z/28 Camaro. In a close final round, Terry held the slight reaction advantage, .556 to .569, and used it to his advantage as he forced Anthony to run just under his 7.42 dial with a 7.413 at 92.63 mph run. Terry ran a 7.259 at 94.75 mph on his 7.23 dial for the win. Mike Parker in his ’84 Camaro was the semifinalist.

Terry Lee, far lane, forces a breakout run from Anthony Zagari in Street Money final.

In Modified, Wesley Cayea drove his ’74 AMC Hornet to the win defeating Darin Buchanan who red lighted in his ’67 Plymouth. Wesley ran right on his 6.68 dial with a 6.681 at 98.93 mph, while Darin shut it off. Eddie Reilly and Steve Searles were the semifinalists.

Dick Aversa scored another Street Trophy class win today as he drove his ’07 Trailblazer SS to a .552 initiated, 9.161 at 70.11 mph run on his 9.05 dial to stop John Angelina who was driving his ’06 Dodge Ram. John had a .891 light and ran an 11.025 at 63.39 mph on his 11.05 dial for the runner-up spot. Carl Scarano was the semifinalist.

In Bike/Sled Combo action it was David Ashby taking the win on his ’93 Kawasaki as he was the benefactor of a Herb Bingel red light. David won with an 8.580 at 75.99 mph run on his 8.54 dial-in. Herb had a .487 red light and tossed out a perfect 6.9100 at 94.37 mph run on his 6.91 dial. Ashley Evangelow and Lisa Phelps were the semifinalists.

In Jr. Dragster “A” racing action, Nicole Woodcock put her “Sugar Rush” Jr. Dragster into the winners circle defeating Mike Phelps in the final round. After nearly identical reaction times, .587 to .589, in Nicole’s favor, both drivers were pedaling it at the finish line. At the stripe it was Nicole’s 7.966 at 79.12 mph run on her 7.90 dial being enough to get by Mike’s 8.091 at 78.93 mph run on his 8.00 dial-in. Paige DeSalvo was the semifinalist.

It was the Snyder boys, Jacob and Joshua facing off against each other in the Jr. Dragster “B” final round. Unfortunately, younger brother Jacob went red at the tree with a .394 bulb negating his 12.981 at 49.49 mph run on his 12.90 dial allowing Joshua to win for the second straight week with a .533 initiated 9.168 at 72.22 mph run on his 8.90 dial-in. Tyler BeDell and Jake Lipke were the semifinalists.

In the P/T Cruiser action, Mo Tucker kept his undefeated streak intact as he won his P/T Stock class once again. Mo won with an 11.323 at 62.39 mph to defeat David Shane who ran 11.884 at 60.00 mph. In the P/T Modified class it was Gary Ingalls winning with a 9.686 at 74.36 mph defeating Jason Mulder who ran 9.697 at 70.74 mph. And in the P/T Turbo class it was Dick Lang taking the solo win with a 9.826 at 70 20 mph.

This coming Sunday, June 8th, we will be running our first ESTA Challenge event of the season. The Fairmount Glen Miniature Golf Street E.T. Challenge will feature Top Payouts for our Street Money class. A regular NPP E.T. Racing Series for all other classes will begin at 9:30 Sunday.
