Dark Cloud Dampens 2012 E.T. Series Opener 

May 6 - We started our 2012 Summit E.T. Points season off today with plenty of sunshine and decent temps. Unfortunately Saturday night we were hit with some terrible news concerning one our Pro MX riders.

“Little Danny,” Dan Cerio was tragically taken away from his family and friends while competing at a Pro Outlaw snowmobile drag race in Martin, Michigan. While there are not enough words that I can write to diminish the impact of this loss on the Cerio family, I just want to let them know that they are in all of our thoughts and Danny will be missed by all of us.

Super Pro
In Super Pro it was Tom Belvick in his ’04 S&W dragster taking care of Scott Forbes who was driving Iggy Falcone’s recently completed ’62 Pontiac Tempest. Tom won with a .555 light and ran a 7.782 at 171.65 mph on his 7.76 dial in. Scott lit the red light with a close .498 bulb and settled for the runner up spot with a 10.476 at 130.01 mph run on his 10.45 dial. Bryan Backus was the semifinalist in his ’82 Cutlass.

Pro
Terry Lee drove his Chevy powered ’89 Mustang to the Pro win by stopping Mike LaRose who had to settle for the runner up spot for the second straight week. Both drivers ran under their dial-ins with Terry running a 10.492 at 126.14 mph on his 10.50 dial, while Mike ran a 10.289 at 129.21 mph on his 10.30. Steve Doss and Rob Forbes were the semifinalists.

2012 Racing Season Opens with No-Points E.T. Racing 

April 29 - Cold and windy, but dry conditions greeted racers as we conducted our first weekend of class competition for our regular E.T. Series classes on Sunday. Payouts and trophies were up for grabs, but no points towards season championships were on the line today. Due to the windy conditions at the top end, it was decided to run 1/8th today for safety reasons.

This Saturday, May 5th we will be running a test 'n tune event for racers wishing to "dial-it-in" one more time before the 2012 Summit Racing E.T. Series gets underway on Sunday. 

Super Pro

In Super Pro it was Ken Miller wheeling his ’72 Maverick through field taking the win over a red lighting Tana Caprara who was in her Chevy powered dragster. Ken drilled the tree with a .504 light and ran 6.723 at 100.90 mph on his 6.69 dial. Tana bulbed with a .490 and ran 4.940 at 142.04 mph on her 4.89 dial in. Bob Belvick was the semifinalist.

Pro
Howie Smith drove his father’s ’80 Malibu Stocker to the win in Pro by stopping Mike LaRose who was in his ’69 Dart. Mike held the slight reaction time advantage .567 to .575 but he ran further under his dial in of 6.46 with a 6.444 at 103.73 mph effort. Howie scored the win with a less offensive 7.576 at 86.03 mph on his 7.58 dial in. Terry Lee was the semifinalist.
