Fireworks for Racing Family

In all the years that I have been at ESTA I believe this is the first time that four family members have won on the same day. Ron Klein Jr. in Jr. Dragster "B", Kimberly Klein in Jr. "A", their mom Chrissy Klein in Pro MX and Chrissy's father and the kids' Grandfather Howie Conklin in Street Trophy, all won on Sunday, July 3rd! Congrats to all of them and to Ron Sr. and their friend Wayne who tune all of these racing entries. This feat is one for our record books and I'm sure will last for years! - Pete DeSalvo Jr.

Summit E.T. Racing Series - July 3rd

July 3, 2011 -  The 4th of July racing weekend for all of us will always be a tough one because one year ago we lost Chad Wilcox who was fatally injured while making a time run on his high powered snowmobile. We held a special tribute to Chad before we got underway with the racing action and there probably was not a dry eye in the place. Randy SinClair from the RFC gave a heartfelt invocation which was followed by Chrissy Klein making a slow tribute run on her Polaris snowmobile in the same lane that Chad made his last run. After the tribute we got underway, here is the recap.

Steve Doss drove his familiar '85 Monte Carlo to yet another big Pro win today by outlasting a stellar field of competitors and defeating Gene Stankivitz III who was making his first appearance of the year driving his '81 Malibu Wagon. Steve drilled the tree in the final with a stellar .505 and ran a 9.602 at 143.01 mph on his 9.58 dial in. Gene had a very good .532 r.t., but ran under his 10.53 dial in with a 10.457 at 125 29 mph while trying to hold back Steve. Mike LaRose was stopped by Doss in the semifinals.

 Adam's 11.50 Shootout
Today we hosted
Adam Carlson's 11.50 Pro Tree Shootout race as well as our 3rd Summit E.T. Series points race of the season. Bob Belvick drove his '69 Camaro to the $1,000 payday in the Shootout by stopping Terry Lee who was in his Chevy powered '89 Mustang. In the final Bob held a .525 to .559 reaction time advantage and won it with an 11.603 at 89.32 mph, while Terry had to settle for the runner up with his 11.604 at 101.36 mph. Brian Skiff and Larry Forjone were the semifinalists. Thanks to Adam Carlson for putting this event together again. Watching all the racers try to run close to the 11.50 index made for some very interesting and entertaining racing action.
