Summit E.T. Racing Series - July 3rd

Don Austin, Mike LaRose Pro Final

Schmidbaur Stops English in Tight Street Money Final

July 3 - Three weeks straight! Gotta love it!  Here's how the final rounds shook out and the boxscores below.

 Don Kiekel - Super Pro

Super Pro
Super Pro racing saw Don Kiekel wheel his Chevy powered dragster to the win when he stopped Iggy Falcone who was driving his "trusty" '65 Pontiac GTO. Don drilled the tree with his second-straight .012 reaction time and ran right on his 7.56 dial with a 7.569 at 166.82 mph winning pass. Iggy had a decent .036 light, but had to be content with the runner-up spot running just under his 10.00 dial with a 9.950 at 133.59 mph effort. Tim Roberts made it to the semi's for the second week in a row losing to Kiekel.

Don Austin - Pro

Pro
Don Austin drove off with the Pro Class win today driving his '93 S-10 to the final round victory over a red lighting Mike LaRose in his "Hustle Stuff" '68 Plymouth GTX. Don was dialed in at 10.30 and was .066 at the tree and drove it through to a 10.279 at 127.88 mph pass. Mike was red by a scant -.007 and went into a huge wheelstand shutting off to a 10.58 at 95 mph runner-up effort. Terry Lee was the semifinalist in his Mustang.

Ryan Orizino - Pro MX

Pro MX
Defending Pro MX points champion Ryan Orizino on his '96 Arctic Cat grabbed his first win of the season stopping Dan Kirkby on his nitrous assisted '04 Kawasaki. Ryan was deadly at the tree with a razor sharp .007 light and he ran a 10.493 at 123.28 mph on his 10.50 dial-in to defeat Dan who left the red light shining in his lane. Dan fouled with a -.021, but rode it out anyway to a 9.309 at 145.18 mph on his 9.18 dial-in. Kevin Wuest and last week's winner Bob Salerno were the semifinalists.

Jim Schmidbaur - Street Money

Street Money
Jim Schmidbaur made his trip from Albany worthwhile when he won the Street Money final round stopping last year's points champion Steve English who was driving a borrowed Monte Carlo after his normal ride broke. Both drivers were .096 at the tree, but Jim ran closer to his dial-in of 12.95 with a 13.050 at 87.86 mph, while Steve ran a 16.10 at 84.73 mph on his 15.93 prediction. Todd Minerd and Al Meier were the semifinalists.

Scott Smith - Modified

Modified
Modified racing action saw Scott Smith drive his flawless '64 Plymouth to the final round win stopping another past class champ Myles Higby in his '69 Dodge. In an extremely close final round, Scott won it by .0012 MOV with a .031-initiated 10.371 at 128.56 mph run on his 10.36. Myles was right alongside with his .038-initiated 10.019 at 132.77 mph running right on his 10.01 dial-in. Becca Searles and Kim Rogge, last week's finalists both lost in the semis.

Steve Seelman - Street Trophy

Street Trophy
In Street Trophy Steve Seelman drove his '89 Firebird to his first ever win when he defeated Adam Carlson driving his '84 Monte Carlo. Steve cut a .222 light and ran a 14.149 at 90.00 mph on his 14.00 dial, while Adam had a .272 light and settled for the runner-up spot with a 16.103 at 84.89 mph run on his 15.93 dial. James Warner was the semifinalist.

Bike/Sled Trophy
Bike/Sled Trophy was won by Bob Salerno riding his '06 Ski-doo to the win stopping Keith Miller on his fast '04 Suzuki. Bob had a .110 light and ran right on his 9.89 dial with a 9.898 at 119.96 mph, while Keith had a much better reaction time with his .064, but he ran under his 8.57 dial with a very close 8.565 at 152.49 mph runner-up pass. Dan Kirkby was the semifinalist.

Jimmy O'Toole - Jr. Dragster

Jr. Dragster
The final round of Jr. Dragster racing saw Jimmy O'Toole up against Abby Hacker. Abby was dialed in at 7.90, but she left too soon with a -.032 light and tossed away her 7.893 at 82.86 mph pass. Jimmy would have been very difficult to beat as he carded a great .012 light and ran very close to his 8.98 dial with a winning 9.008 at 71.76 mph. Daniel Thorpe lost in the semis.

That wraps it up for this week's racing action. Congrats to Vince Musolino for winning Top Dragster and Phil Burkart for winning Top Alcohol Funny Car at the Lebanon Valley D1 points race.
