Steve Doss stayed red hot in Super Pro wheeling his Chevy powered dragster to his third straight win after he stopped Tom Belvick in the final round. Steve held a slight .512 to .528 starting line advantage and ran a 7.550 at 173.15 mph on his 7.52 dial, while Tom ran under his 7.73 dial in with a 7.722 at 173.09 mph runner up effort. Mike LaRose and Vince Musolino were the semifinalists.
Jay Wahl captured the Pro win driving his ’85 Camaro to a .588 initiated, 10.135 at 118.65 mph run on his 10.00 dial in. Mark Dobie in is ’68 Nova lit the red light with a .483 bulb and ran a 10.00 at 133.83 mph on his 10.02 dial to settle for the runner up spot. Mike Larose Jr. and Kim Rogge were the semifinalists.
The Pro MX final round came down to Matt Luke on his ’05 Suzuki against Heath Smith who was on his Arctic Cat. Becca had a .581 reaction time, but had to be towed off of the track to take the runner up spot. Don Austin was the semifinalist.
It was Todd Minerd in his ’80 Pinto taking the win over Kim Rossiter in her ’69 Chevelle. Todd held a .584 to .673 starting line advantage and won with a great 15.256 at 84.85 mph run on his 15.24 dial. Rossiter took the runner up spot with a .672 initiated, 14.882 at 98.70 mph, which was well under her 14.96 dial in. Scott Canfield was the semifinalist.
Bike / Sled Trophy was won by Dan Kirkby on his ’03 Kawasaki when Ryan Yarah fouled on his ’09 Suzuki. Dan had a .532 light and cruised to a 10.79 at 121.91 mph on his 10.48 dial, while Ryan had a .417 bulb and threw out a right on the dial in 9.33 at 142.48 mph pass. Kevin Wuest was the semifinalist.
It was Dunham Hall winning the Jr. dragster class again today when he stopped Paige DeSalvo in the final round. Dunham held a .516 to .561 advantage and ran an 8.00 at 76.63 mph on his 7.90 dial in for the win. Paige could only muster a 7.959 at 81.08 mph on her 7.90 dial in and had to settle for the runner up spot in what was her last race as a Jr. dragster driver at ESTA, capping off a great Jr. dragster career. Shane Bingel was the semifinalist.
We also held a Jr. Dragster Parents/Crew race where the kids got a chance to turn the screws and be the crew chief. In the final it was yours-truly driving Paige’s car to the win by defeating Matt Luke who was driving Ron Klein’s Jr. hot rod. The cars were much faster than when the kids drive them as we bailed out some of the weight carried to slow them down to the 7.90 limit. I was dialed in at 7.39 to Matt’s 7.64 and Paige and I took the win with a .508 light, running a 7.443 at 77.15 mph to stop Matt and Ron’s .548 initiated, 7.662 at 85.37 mph effort. Cherie Bedell was the semifinalist.
This race wraps up our Summit E.T. Points Series and although it was an abbreviated points season it was still filled with plenty of excitement and great racing action. Thanks to everyone that came out and we’ll see if we can get our last two events in.
