Summit E.T. Racing Series - May 27
May 27 - The official start of the summer arrived in a big way as temperatures soared, but we're not complaining as we completed our 4th straight Summit Racing E.T. Racing Series event on a beautiful Memorial Day weekend.
Super Pro
Jack Vault wheeled his ’07 Ford powered dragster to the Super Pro win defeating a red lighting Tana Caprara who was in her ’08 Chevy powered rail. Jack had a great .502 light and he clicked it off to a 7.71 at only 135 mph on his 7.47 dial in. Tana lit the red light with a .485 bulb and shut off to a 9.08, she was dialed in at 7.95. Both drivers drove extremely well during eliminations and it would have been a very close final had it not been for the red light. Gene Stankivitz III and Matt Spisak were the semifinalists.
Pro
Theodore Lewis took the Pro win when he stopped Terry Lee in the final round. Theo, in his ’82 Firebird had a stout .501 r.t. and ran 10.503 at 121.91 mph on his 10.46 dial in to seal the deal. Terry in his Chevy powered ’89 Mustang was right there with his .532 initiated 10.619 at 125.73 mph run on his 10.59 dial ion. Steve Doss and Don Austin were the semifinalists.
Pro MX
Keith Miller rode his ’04 Suzuki to the Pro MX win after Fred Jacobs gave away his shot at the title with a .460 red light start. Keith had a safe .610 start and ran 10.056 at 130.39 mph on is 10.00 dial. Fred who was on his ’91 Suzuki threw away his 9.433 at 143.75 mph run on his 9.42 dial and had to settle for the runner up spot. Nicole Smith was the lone semifinalist.
Street Money
Jordan Reader parked his Super Pro Camaro for the day and brought out his ’88 Ranger and won the Street Money cash today when Clarence Spady fouled while driving his ’93 Camaro. Jordan played it safe with a .602 r.t. and he ran 11.551 at 117.54 mph on his 11.51 dial for the win. Clarence who showed up late and just made it in time for the first round had a close .494 red light and settled for the runner up spot with a 15.590 at 87.68 mph against his 15.52 dial. Shawn Manley was the semifinalist.
Modified
It was Fausto Rioscolon scoring the Modified win driving his “Sponge Bob” ’72 “Cuda to a 9.904 at 135.53 mph run on his 9.78 dial. Don Leppard in his ’87 Camaro had the misfortune of rolling through the starting line lights and was disqualified. Corey DeVoe was the semifinalist.
Street Trophy
Todd Minerd was also the benefactor of a red light start. Todd who was in his Pinto put a great final round package together with a .514 initiated 15.285 at 82.39 mph. He was dialed in at 15.27. Joe Bird in his ’94 Pontiac lit the red-light with a.429 foul start and he runner upped with a 14.178 at 97.65 mph. Chad Horton was the semifinalist.
Bike/Sled Trophy
Current Bike/Sled Trophy co-champ’s Chrissy Klein and Kevin Wuest met each other in the final round this week. Kevin held the starting line advantage .522 to .634 and he won it with a 10.832 at 114.45 mph on his 10.76 dial while Chrissy had to settle for the runner up spot with a 9.986 at 127.08 mph run on her 9.94 dial. Chris Moore was the semifinalist.
Jr. Dragster "A"
Morgan Bunal nailed down the Jr. Dragster “A” class win today when she defeated Ron Klein Jr. in a very close final round. Morgan had a slight .594 to .600 reaction time advantage and at the stripe she won it by .009 with her right on the dial 7.908 at 80.90 mph effort. Ron was also dialed in at 7.90 and he settled for the runner up spot with a 7.911 at 83.03 mph. Dunham Hall was the semifinalist.
Jr. Dragster "B"
Current Jr. Dragster “B” co- champ Gracie Snyder won for the second straight week today when she stopped Hunter Heppner in the final round. Gracie had a .566 light and nailed her 8.90 dial in with an 8.909 at 74.01 mph. Hunter had a .594 reaction and he ran under his 8.90 dial with an 8.848 at 73.29 mph runner up effort. Natalia Musolino made it to the late rounds again losing in the semi’s.
The Summit Points Series will take a break next week as we will open on Sunday with a Time Trial event along with a swap meet.
