Summit E.T. Racing Series - August 25

Zegarelli Scores 2nd Super Win
Caissie Continues Street Money Dominance

Pro Final

August 25 - The Summit Racing E.T. point series returned after a 2 week hiatus and was complimented with additional events that included the 5.50 & 6.50 Index classes and the Jr. Dragster Challenge. Spectacular weather allowed this full card of racing to be completed under near-perfect conditions.  Here's how the final rounds shook out and the boxscores below.

Anthony Zegarelli - Winner Super Pro

Super Pro
Anthony Zegarelli scored his second Super Pro win of the season with his defeat of reigning class champion, Vince Musolino. Vince had a slim .005 edge over Anthony in their Dial/E.T. packages, but could not overcome Anthony's .009 to .040 reaction time lead at the start. Anthony dialed in at a 5.81 and ran a 5.844 at 122.53 mph to take the win. Vince drove his American dragster to a 4.329 at 159.45 mph on his 4.30 dial-in and settled for the runner-up finish. Mike Scribani was the lone semifinalist.

AJ Meier - Pro Winner

A.J. Meier scored the red-light win over Matt Consiglio in the battle of two buds. Matt got the head start based on his 11.07 to 10.54 dial-in, but was too quick with his -0.041 foul start thus ending any chance of some finishline heroics. Both drivers lifted and ran 12.789 and 11.759 E.T.s respectively. Don Austin and Mark Dobie each bowed out in the semis.

Heath Smith - Pro MX Winner

Pro MX
Heath Smith scored the Pro MX win over Bob Salerno, winning both ends of the track. Heath held a .086 to .100 r.t. lead and stopped the timers at the top end with a 9.166 at 129.22 mph pass on his 9.10 dial-in for the win. Bob dialed in at a 9.29 and drove to a 9.378 at 133.99 mph and settled for the runner-up honors. Meanwhile Ron Dean and Lynn Major drove to semifinal finishes.

Dan Caissie - Street Money Winner

Street Money
Dan Caissie continued his Street Money stranglehold with his final round win over Diane Ashby. Diane had the headstart with a 15.82 dial, but left the barn door open for Dan with her out-of-character .321 reaction. Dan's .042 reaction time all but sealed the win and he coasted to a 11.064 on his 10.80 dial-in for the win. Al Meier was the lone semifinalist.

Brian Mahler - Modified Winner

Brian Mahler scored the Modified win over Mark Savory, winning both ends of the track for his first win of the season. Brian held a hefty .036 to .146 r.t. advantage and drove to a .012-over 11.032 at 116.27 mph for the win. Mark dialed his Plymouth in at a 10.40 and drove to a 10.454 at 129.97 mph pass in his runner-up effort. Mark Dobie drove to his second semifinal finish on the day.

Steve Seelman Sr. - Street Trophy Winner

Street Trophy
Steve Seelman Sr. got the Street Trophy win when Steve English went .006 too quick on the line. Steve would have tough to beat as he posted a solid .021 reaction and drove his '90 Corvette to a .014-over 13.584 at 99.12 mph for the win. Steve drove his '82 Cutlass to an 11.974 on his 11.90 dial-in. Kurt Hagen and Jim Pipines each made it to the semis.

Robert Williams - Bike/Sled Trophy Winner

Bike/Sled Trophy
Robert Williams got the Bike/Sled Trophy win over Frank Amalfi. Frank ran closer to his dial by .015 over Robert, but Rob's .111 to .164 reation time advantage was enough to drive around Frank's Yamaha at the top end on the strength of his 9.628 on his 9.50 dial-in. Steve Stone was the lone semifinalist.

Messiah Hart - Jr. Dragster Winner

Jr. Dragster & Challenge "B"
Messiah Hart won the regular, combined Jr. Dragster class win over Francis Vigola when Francis broke out by a heart-breaking .002 after posting a .030 to .068 reaction time lead. Francis was a tad too quick with his 7.898 at 80.50 mph, while Messiah posted a 8.927 on his 8.91 dial-in and scored the win. Daniel Thorpe was the lone semifinalist.

The Jr. Dragster Challenge was broken down into two classess, Junior "A" and Junior "B" and Messiah Hart posted his second win on the day when he defeated Davion Short in the Jr. "B" final.

Davion was spotted a .10 headstart based on his 9.00 dial, but his chance for the win ended with a too-quick -.0136 red light foul start. Messiah probably saw Davion's red light and posted a .107 reaction, but the win was sealed and he drove it out to a 8.947 at 72.28 mph on his 8.90 dial to take the win. Davion lifted and drove to a 9.501 on his 9.00 dial-in. Chance Nash was the lone semifinalist.

Jazmyne Short - Jr. Dragster "A" Winner

Jr. Dragster "A"
Jazmyne Short held a large .057 to .108 reaction time lead over Natalie Musolino in the Jr. Dragster "A" and held that lead to the finish to score the Jr. Dragster Challenge "A" win. Jazzy cruised to a 7.988 at 81.79 mph on her 7.94 dial-in to take the win. Natalie ran closer to her dial-in, a .025-over 7.925 at 76.12 mph, but couldn't overcome the reaction time gap. Jimmy O'Toole drove to the lone semifinal finish.

Derek Beauregard - 5.50 Index Winner

5.50 Index
Derek Beauregard won a tight one over Dave Kelly in the 5.50 Index final. Dave ran .001 closer to the 5.50 Index than Derek, but it was Derek's .041 to .080 reaction time lead that lit the win light in his lane. Derek drove his '89 Mustang to a 5.549 at 125.41 mph for the win, while Dave was a tic quicker at a 5.548 at 119.78 mph. Dave Crossman was the lone semifinalist.

Steve Doss - 6.50 Index winner

6.50 Index
Steve Doss held a .013 reaction time lead over Anthony Zangari in the 6.50 Index final and drilled the index with a 6.507 at 100.60 mph for the win. Anthony just broke out with a 6.461 at 103.65 mph in his effort to take the stripe at the top end in an awesome side-by-side final. Meanwhile Joey Santoro finished in the semis.

The 2019 King of the Track race will be held on Sunday along with a full Summit Racing E.T. Series points event.
