Summit E.T. Racing Series - July 28

Mike Thomas - July 28 Super Pro Winner
Hagen Win Streak Continues & Ends

July 28 - We returned to our regular, Summit Racing E.T. Series points race on Sunday with the addition of a Heads-Up Fastest Street shootout. We saw Kurt Hagen make his 5th consecutive visit the the ESTA Winner Circle, but have his Street Trophy win streak snapped. Here's how the final rounds shook out and the boxscores below.

Mike Thomas - July 28 Super Pro Winner

Super Pro
Mike Thomas got a taste of the Winner Circle last Saturday when he scored the Low Rollers win and liked it so much that he carried that momentum to the Super Pro win over Kris Larsen and his '94 Olds. Mike carried his .057 to .096 reaction time lead and drove to a solid .008-over 6.348 at 105.15 mph for the win. Kris gave chase, but his 5.625 e.t. on his 5.59 dial-in wasn't enough to close the gap and had to settle for the runner-up finish. Vince Musolino and "Hot Rod" Heather Scheirer drove to semifinal finishes on the day.

Steve Doss - Pro winner

Steve Doss scored the Pro win over Don Austin when Don posted a heart-breaking -.001 red light and negated what looked like a potential photo-finish at the top end. Steve would have made it tough for Don as he nailed the tree with a .017 reaction time and drove his Trans Am to a .002-under, 10.488 at 126.04 mph pass for the win. Don drove his '93 Chevy S-10 to a 9.940 at 133.43 mph pass on his 9.93 dial-in and had to settle for the runner-up honors. Justin Hardman was the lone semifinalist.

Bob Salerno - Pro MX Winner

Pro MX
Bob Salerno recovered from a .008 starting line deficit to Ron Dean, .035 to .027, and won a double-breakout Pro MX final with a 9.256 at 131.99 mph run on his 9.29 dial. Ron had his '97 ski-doo dialed in at a 10.14 and took too much finish line and dipped further under his dial with a 10.090 at 124.25 mph for a second-place finish. Beau Ivy was the lone semifinalist.

Kurt Hagen - Street Money Winner

Street Money
Kurt Hagen continued his hot-streak to score his fifth-straight win, this time in the money division of street racers by knocking out friend & on-track nemesis Steve English. Kurt's decisive .048 to .191 reaction time lead over Steve forced the latter into a breakout run of a .006-under 11.748 at 113.94 mph handing Kurt the win light. Kurt made it impossible for Steve to squeak by as he drilled his 12.56 dial with an outstanding 12.570 at 105.13 mph to score the win. Rick Vose drove to a semifinal finish on the day.

P.J. Haynes - Modified Winner

P.J. Haynes won his second-straight Modified final with a double breakout win over Mike Scribani. P.J. held a slight .111 to .115 reaction time lead and ran closer to his dial with a 10.764 at 124.71 mph on his 10.78 dial, while Mike blasted his 11.75 dial-in by almost 2-tenths running a 11.572 at 117.82 mph. Rodney Pfendler was the lone semifinalist.

Steve Seelman Sr. - Street Trophy Winner

Street Trophy
The Kurt Hagen win streak ended at four as Steve Seelman Sr., avenged his July 14 loss and topped the point leader in their rematch. Steve bought enough real estate at the line with his .110 to .146 r.t. advantage and pushed Kurt to a streak-ending, .0012-under 12.578 at 103.47 mph pass. Steve dialed his '90 Corvette in at a 13.92 and drove to the win with a 13.974 at 96.07 mph run. Keith Snow made it to semis to round out the top three.

Uro Medina - Bike/Sled Trophy winner

Bike/Sled Trophy
Uro Medina got the Bike/Sled Trophy win over Ron Dean when he held a .013 to .048 reaction time advantage on his 2016 BMW and nailed his 9.38 dial with 9.376 at 128.94 mph winning pass. Ron ran a decent 10.111 at 123.03 mph on his 10.10 dial, but it wasn't enough to hold off the hard charging Beemer. Josh Costa drove to the semifinal finish.

Alexis Collins - Jr. Dragster winner

Jr. Dragster
Alexis Collins got the holeshot win over Jimmy O'Toole running an .048-initiated 7.983 at 76.78 mph run on her 7.93 dial-in. Jimmy went .099 green on the line, but couldn't hold Alexis off when his 7.972 on a 7.95 dial-in couldn't close the gap. Jazmyne Short and Kimberlee Snell each made it to the semis on the day.

Heads-Up Fastest Street
Jim Bersani drove his immaculate '66 Chevy II to the Fastest Street Car win over Paul Coppola who was piloting his 2002 Camaro. Jim had Paul covered at both ends of the track and clicked off a winning 5.322 at 135.55 mph pass. Paul drove to a 5.909 at 119.63 mph in his runner-up effort. Warren Vandish and Fred Davis were the semifinalists.

That wraps it up for today's action. We will see you all next Sunday for our regular Summit Racing E.T. Series point race. The long term weather forcast looks very favorable, so we hope to see you there.
