Summit E.T. Racing Series - June 30

June 30 Race results

June 30 - Some light evening and morning showers wasn't enough to dampen efforts to host our third Summit Racing E.T. Season event. Steve Ellinger and Kurt Hagen both continued their winning ways from their wins on June 23rd in Modified and Street Trophy respectively.  Here's how the final rounds shook out and the boxscores below.

Tom Doig - Super Pro Winner

Super Pro
The Super Pro final saw Tom Doig  post a perfect .000 reaction time on Bob Belvick and parlayed that advantage into the Super Pro win when Bob broke out in his effort to close the gap. Dialing in at a 5.52, Tom launched his '69 Plymouth and drove it to a 5.539 at 123.64 mph to snag the Super Pro win light. Riding in off the momentum of a high-dollar bracket win at Empire Dragway, Bob gave chase to Tom with a .034 reaction, but dipped under his 4.97 dial-in with a too-quick 4.966 at 133.99 mph pass and had to settle for the second place finish.  Kris Larsen and Paul Scribani drove to semifinal finishes on the day.

Mike LaRose - Pro Winner

Pro
Both Mike LaRose and Gary Rolfe Sr. bowed out in the semis last weekend, but carried it one round further on Sunday to meet up in the Pro final with Mr. LaRose taking the win. Mike held a .010 reaction time advantage with a .035 to Gary's .045 start. With Gary getting the slight headstart, 6.55 to 6.38 dials, Mike "held-it-to-the-boards" and drove by Gary with a .001-over 6.381 at 101.12 mph to score yet another class win. Gary ran a decent 5.566 at 106.10 mph, but couldn't maintain the lead and settled for the runner-up spot. Mark Dobie was the lone semifinalist.

Josh Costa - Pro MX Winner

Pro MX
After a razor-thin red light that cost Josh Costa the Bike/Sled Trophy win, he made up for that loss with a solid win over multi-title winning Kevin Wuest in the Pro MX final. Kevin got the head start on his 2018 Polaris dialing in at a 6.11, but opened the door for Josh to drive around him at top end by giving up a .110 to .039 reaction time advantage. Josh dialed his '09 Suzuki in at a 5.51 and drove past Kevin on the strength of a 5.549 at 117.72 mph winning pass. Robert Williams and John Kuhfta each drove to semifinal finishes on the day.

Dan Caissie - Street Money Winner

Street Money
Dan Caissie didn't wait too long to return to the 2019 Winner Circle when he met up with another 2019 class winner, Jim Smith and his '02 Firebird. Jim got the head start, but gave up a .110 to .036 reaction time advantage to Dan and couldn't hold off the top end charge of Dan's Mustang. Dialing in at a 6.97, Dan closed the gap and nipped Jim at the top end with a 7.029 at 93.94 mph to score his second class win of the young season. Jim ran a stellar .004-over 7.234 at 97.41 mph, but couldn't hold Dan off and settled for the runner-up honors. Gary French drove to a semifinal run on the day.

Steve Ellinger - Modified Winner

Modified
Steve Ellinger continued his Modified win streak scoring his third-straight win this time over Joe Santoro. The battle of the Chevy F-bodies got started when Joe launched his '02 Camaro first based on his 6.59 to 6.32 dial-in handicap, but he gave up the r.t. advantage to Steve, .160 to .138, and could not run the number, 6.914 at 102.48 mph. Steve drove his vintage '69 Camaro easily around Joe on his way to a 6.342 at 105.63 mph pass for yet another Modified win. Brandon Crossman made the semis the final to close the day.

Kurt Hagen - Street Trophy Winner

Street Trophy
Like Steve Ellinger, Kurt Hagen also scored his third-straight Street Trophy win when Steve Seelman lit the red light in their final round match. Both drivers ran close to their dial-ins, but the race was sealed at the start. Kurt drove his '11 Camaro to a 7.975 at 86.24 mph on his 7.96 dial-in for the win, while Steve ran his '90 Camaro out to a .002-under 8.758 at 77.96 mph.  The semifinalists were Steve English and Jim Pipines.

Kevin Wuest - Bike/Sled Trophy Winner

Bike/Sled Trophy
Kevin Wuest got the B/S Trophy win over Josh Costa when Josh posted a heart-breaking -0.0001 foul start. Kevin nailed the tree with an awesome .006 light and drove his Polaris to a 6.081 at 109.26 mph run on his 6.13 dial for the win. Josh was .0001 away from a probable win as he streaked to 5.522 at 126.38 mph run on his 5.51 dial-in, but had to settle for the runner-up finish. Brandon MacCombie and Bob Salerno were the semifinalists.

Messiah Hart - Jr. Dragster Winner

Jr. Dragster
Messiah Hart gave up a slight .006 reaction time advantage to Davion Short, .123 to .117, but got the win when Davion took too much finish line and broke out of his 9.28 dial, running a too-quick 9.254 at 70.20 mph. Messiah drove to a winning 8.985 at 73.05 mph run on his 8.94 dial. Alexis Collins continued going deep into the rounds and made it to the semis.

Vince Diflorio - Limited Street 5.50 Index Winner

Limited Street 5.50 Index
The 5.50 and 6.50 Limited Street Index classes returned for the second time this season to complete the order of events on the day. In the quicker 5.50 Index class it was Vince Diflorio scoring a red-light win over Derek Beauregard in a battle of the Mustangs. Vince posted a solid .027 reaction time and drove to a 5.613 at 131.96 mph run to score the win. Derek's -0.062 foul negated a potential photo-finish as he ran his Mustang out to a just-under 5.495 at 115.66 mph run. John Pfuntner was the lone semifinalist.

Anthony Zangari - Limited Street 6.50 Index Winner

Limited Street 6.50 Index
In the 6.50 Limited Street Index final, Anthony Zangari improved on his June 9 runner-up finish and scored the win over Dan Nealen. Dan held a slight .063 to .079 starting line advantage, but drove further off the 6.50 index as Anthony's 6.603 was enough to recover and score the win. Dan drove his '83 Camaro to a 6.657 at 102.97 mph for the runner-up honors. Dave Thompson was the lone semifinalist.

That wraps it up for today's action, we'll see you next Sunday for the rained out Smoke and Speed Diesel race. No regular classes will compete on Sunday. Our regular E.T. racing program returns on July 14th with the Pro Stick group..
