Summit E.T. Racing Series - August 19

August 19 Pro Final

English, Wuest Score Repeat Wins

August 19 - We returned to our regular Summit Racing E.T. Series point schedule on Sunday after a week off from the point chase. The weather was perfect and we had some awesome battles on the track to lead up to Sunday's class winners. Here's how the final rounds shook out and the boxscores below.

Bob Belvick - Super Pro Winner

Super Pro
Reigning Super Pro champion Bob Belvick returned to the winner circle Sunday with the aid of a red light start by Mark Talmadge. Getting the head start in his '75 Vega, Mark was a tad too quick on the tree with a -0.005 foul and he backed off the Vega's "Go" pedal after seeing the red light. Bob on the other hand nailed the tree with an inverse, .005 reaction time and drove his dragster to a 4.990 at 135.97 mph run on his 4.97 dial-in to take the win. Jordan Reader was the lone semifinalist.

Brian Mahler - Pro Winner

Pro
After an extended hospital stay, it was great to see Terry Lee back at the ESTA asphalt and in the final round for the Pro division. Brian Mahler won both ends of the track in his '73 Plymouth to spoil Terry's return, but we're all glad to see Terry back going rounds. Brian got the headstart dialing in at a 7.02 and posted a .024 reaction and nailed his dial perfectly with a 7.020 at 97.83 mph to score the win. Terry drove .005 off his 6.25 dial and could not reel Brian in after posting a .069 reaction and settled for the runner-up finish. Mike LaRose Jr. drove to the semifinal finish.

Bob Salerno

Pro MX
Bob Salerno had plenty of cushion at the top end to cruise to the Pro MX win after securing a .036 to .165 starting line advantage over Steve Stone on his '86 Honda. Bob eased his '99 Ski-doo to a 5.810 at 104.65 mph pass on his 5.72 dial-in to score the win. Steve posted a 7.663 at 88.39 mph run on his 7.64 dial for the runner-up finish. Kevin Wuest and Ryan Orizino both drove to semifinal finishes on the day.

Steve English - Street Money Winner

Street Money
Steve English denied Dan Caissie his bid to repeat in Street Money Sunday and scored his second win of the afternoon. Steve held a .062 to .086 reaction time advantage and drove his '82 Cutlass to a solid 8.121 at 86.66 mph run on his 8.10 dial to take the win light. In his effort to recover from the r.t. deficit, Dan broke out on his 7.30 dial-in and ran a too quick 7.270 at 88.59 mph and settled for the runner-up honors. Jessica DeSiato continued going deep into eliminations and scored a semifinal finish.

Steve Searles - Modified Winner

Modified
Brett Hoffman also was denied a repeat after his August 5th Modified win and it was Steve Searles' .025 to .093 reaction time advantage that forced Brett into a 6.901 breakout pass on his 6.93 dial-in. Steve dialed his 86 Mustang in at a 7.03 and posted a 7.069 at 96.17 mph pass in his winning effort. Matt Cole was the lone semifinalist.

Steve English - Street Trophy Winner

Street Trophy
The Street Trophy final was a repeat of the August 5th final with Steve English stopping Steve Seelman Sr. for the win. Mr. Seelman drilled the tree with an awesome .003, but gave Mr. English too much respect at the finish line and broke out on his 9.03 dial-in trying to hold off Steve's charge, running a too-quick 8.933 at 76.04 mph pass. Steve E ran a .065-initiated, 8.131 on his 8.10 dial to score the Street Trophy repeat win. Steve Seelman Jr. was the lone semifinalist.

Kevin Wuest - Bike/Sled Winner

Bike/Sled Trophy
Another repeat August 5 result saw Kevin Wuest score the Bike/Sled win over Dan Kirkby who was piloting his '04 Kawasaki. Kevin got things started with a .074-initiated 6.238 at 106.70 mph pass on his 6.23 dial, but the win was sealed when Dan posted a .103 reaction and ran .038 off his 6.11 dial-in.  John Khufta scored semifinal finish on the day.

Jr. Dragster
Paige Montgomery had all the cushion she needed to score the Junior win over Natalie Musolino with her .030 to .119 starting line advantage. The girls' 7.91 heads-up final saw Natalie driving closer to her dial with a 7.917, but it wasn't enough to overcome the reaction time deficit as Paige ran a 7.936 at 79.92 mph for the win. Davian Short drove to another semifinal finish as did Jimmy O'Toole.

That wraps it up for today's action. We'll see you next Sunday.
