Summit E.T. Racing Series - August 5

August 5 Modified Final

Epic Battle in Jr. Dragster Final

August 5 - Anotha' scorcha' for ESTA on Sunday as we drive into the second half of the 2018 Summit Racing E.T. Series seaon. Here's how the final rounds shook out and the boxscores below.

Ron Klein - Super Pro Winner

Super Pro
Ron Klein Sr. had a .019 reaction time deficit to make up when Heather Scheier held a .012 to .031 advantage, but he had enough to chase Heather down and log a .014-over 4.614 at 147.10 mph pass to take the win. Heather fell off her 5.17 prediction and ran a 5.220 at 131.90 mph runner-up pass. Last week's winner Anthony Zangari was the lone semifinalist.

Myles Higby - Pro Winner

Pro
Myles Higby gave up a slight r.t. advantage to Gary Rolfe Jr. in their Pro final match, but had enough cushion at the top end to score a winning 10.136 pass on his 10.11 to pilot his '69 Dart into today's winner circle. Gary cut a .039 light, but fell off his 10.84 dial-in and drove to a 10.872 at 113.07 mph pass and settled for the runner-up finish. Jake Lipke drove his '70 Chevelle to a semifinal finish on the day.

Dan Kirkby - Pro MX Winner

Pro MX
John Blume must have had a massive gulp of "good air" in his Pro MX final round match against Dan Kirkby, as he bombed his 10.15 dial-in with a very, "too-quick" 9.965 at 120.04 mph pass and gave the win away to Dan's 9.645 at 147.57 mph blast on his 9.59 dial-in. The breakout coupled with a massive .012 to .116 reaction time advantage over Dan, is just salt in the wound in what was otherwise a great weekend for John and his '95 Polaris. Rob Eastman and Kevin Wuest each drove their sleds to semifinal runs on the day.

Dan Caissie - Street Money Winner

Street Money/Import vs. Domestic
Well it was the domestic "Detroit steel" taking the top 3 spots in Street Money as Dan Caissie in his '87 Mustang drove to a dead-on-the-dial 11.450 at 114.84 mph to take the win over Jessica DeSiato and her '85 Camaro. Dan got Jessica at the tree .068 to .086, but left no room for Jessica to drive around as she posted a decent 11.114 on her 11.12 dial-in. Jake Lipke drove to his second semifinal run of the day in his Chevelle.

Brett Hoffman - Modified Winner

Modified
Brett Hoffman won a double breakout Modified final win over Matt Consiglio when Matt took much win stripe at the top end. Matt held a comfortable .035 to .056 advantage, but broke out more with his 11.118 at 117.17 mph on his 11.13 dial runner-up effort. Brett drove his Nova to an almost there 11.053 at 119.31 mph on his 11.06 dial-in to score the win. Brian Mahler and Jim Pipines were the semifinalists.

Steve English - Street Trophy Winner

Street Trophy
Steve Seelman tried to score his third-straight Street Trophy win, but it was the veteran Steve English that wasn't going to cooperate and drove his '82 Cutlass to the win. Mr. English took command at the start with a .019 to .055 reaction time advantage and comfortably drove around Steve's Firebird to post a 12.763 on his 12.67 dial for the win. Mr. Seelman slowed up to a 14.434 on his 14.26 dial-in and settled for the runner-up finish. Rich Garland  drove to a semifinal finish.

Kevin Wuest - Bike/Sled Winner

Bike/Sled Trophy
Kevin Wuest won Bike/Sled over a red lighting Dan Kirkby who was piloting his '04 Kawasaki. Kevin got things started with a .080-initiated 10.007 at 127.42 mph breakout pass on his 10.05 dial, but the race was over when Dan fouled with an oh-so-close .007 red light. Dan rocketed to a 9.275 at 146.61 mph run on his 9.59 dial-in. Michael Bomford and Sudsy Eastman scored semifinal finishes on the day.

Jazmyne Short - Jr. Dragster Winner

Jr. Dragster
The Race of the Day had to be this Jr. Dragster final between Jazmyne Short and Jimmy O'Toole. Jazzy held .040 in the bank at the line, .057 to .097, and did a masterful job "driving the line" as she crossed the stripe first and posted a .000 margin of victory over Jimmy. Jimmy ran closer to his 7.99 dial with an 8.027 at 80.92 mph pass, but Jazmyne had enough cushion at top end to cruise to a 8.007 at 78.13 mph winning run on her 7.93 dial-in. Davian Short drove to a solid semifinal finish on the day.

That wraps it up for today's action. We'll see you next Sunday.
