FX Caprara Harley-Davidson Twin Tens - July 21-22

twin10sROK

July 23 - Local weather prognosticators had wet weather forcast for Saturday evening, and they were partially right. The wet stuff held off until Sunday night's 10K finale where we had to call it a split. Other than that, it turned out to be a great weekend of racing with some serious "coin" being handed out to our winners. Major thank you to our sponsors of the event, title sponsor F.X. Caprara Harley-Davidson and Mickey Thompson Tires & Wheels. Here's how the final rounds shook out and the boxscores below.

Gary Rolfe Jr. - Saturday 10K Winner

Saturday F.X. Caprara Harley-Davidson $10K Bracket Bash
For the first time since we have been running big $10K events at ESTA, the big check went to a foot-brake racer and it was Gary Rolfe Jr. who took that honor! Gary was inserted into the Caprara Harley-Davidson 10K event when he won the foot-brake event on Saturday, outlasting over 20 entries. Gary and his '85 Chevy S-10 joined the remaining 10K "Bashers" in the fifth round and advanced to the final to meet up with another ESTA regular, Scott Popple.

Scott spotted Gary a 6.84 to 5.34 dial-in head start, but if not for a slight hesitation on the line may have turned the outcome the other way. Scott launched his '66 Chevelle to a .025 to .038 reaction advantage, but the hiccup slowed him down to a 5.409 at 127.06 mph run in his runner-up effort. Gary drove his S-10 to a solid 6.852 at 99.53 mph pass on his 6.84 dial to score the big pay day at the top end. Scott Forbes and Pete Maduri Jr. drove to semifinal finishes

Jeff Krushinskie - High Roller Door Winner

High Roller Door Car
In Saturday's High Roller race for the doorslammers, it was Jeff Krushinskie scoring the win in his '05 Camaro over Mark Talmadge in a breakout win. Jeff didn't leave much room for Mark at the top end with .012-initiated, 5.635 on his 5.63 dial-in for a tight .017 MOV winning pass. Mark, who is always running deep into big dollar events, was right there on the tree with his .020 light, but was forced to drive his trusty '75 Vega into a too-quick 6.030 pass on his 6.04 dial-in for the runner-up honors. Scott Drake and Joe Rolfe drove to the semifinal finishes.

Brandon Barker - High Roller Dragster Winner

High Roller Dragster
Brandon Barker scored the uber-tight, .006 m.o.v. win over Jordan Reader in their High Roller Dragster final round duel. Jordan held a slight .011 to .016 advantage over Brandon at the line, but opened the door ever so slightly for Brandon to drive around for the win. Brandon tripped the top end timers with a 4.774 at 141.12 mph on his 4.76 dial-in to get the squeeker win. Jordan drove his dragster to a 4.985 at 137.70 mph pass on his 4.96 dial-in and settled for the runner-up finish. Dalton Roles and Jim DiCicee each drove to semifinal finishes.

Mike LaRose Jr. - Low Roller Winner

Low Roller
Mike LaRose Jr. won the $1,000-to-win "Low Rollers" purse on Saturday when his .011 to .043 reaction advantage forced Brian Acker into a breakout run to score the win. Dialing in at a 5.78, Mike drove his '68 Dart to a 5.807 at 119.47 mph winning run. Brian drove his '84 Dodge Omni to a too-quick 5.532 at 124.51 mph pass on his 5.55 dial and had to settle for the runner-up honors. Rick Bell and Annalise LeBlanc drove to semifinal finishes.

Mark Goyette - Sunday 10K co-winner

Sunday F.X. Caprara Harley-Davidson $10K Bracket Bash
Well the weather held off longer than the weatherman predicted, but did eventually show up just in time to prevent the final run of the day forcing Mark Goyette and Dave Catherman to split the $12.5K first and second place purses. Mark marched his way through the field and gained entry into the final run for the money when he knocked ESTA regular Mike Scribani out in their semifinal match. Dave made it into the final round courtesy of a Mark Talmadge red light start in their semifinal match up.

Dave Cathermine - Sunday 10K co-winner

It was a long, but exciting weekend of high-caliber bracket racing that featured the best racers in the northeast and Canada. Thank you so much to all our competitors, event sponsors and dedicated staff that help make such events the success that they are. We will return to our regular Summit Racing E.T. Series event next Sunday and in addition, the Fastest Street Car Shootout to boot!
