Cooler Fall Weather Returns as Stock/Super Stock Headlines Full Card Event
October 1 - Seasonal temperatures returned on Sunday after a scorcher last weekend for a Summit Racing E.T. Series event headlined by our annual Stock/Super Stock event and the American Muscle Pro Stick show. Here's how the final rounds shook out and the boxscores below.
Super Pro
With such a full card of racing on Sunday, we simply ran out of daylight to safely contest the Super Pro final, so Howie Smith and Steve Doss split the purse and finished the day as co-winners. Bob Belvick was the semifinalist.
Pro
Justin Hardman ran .004 off his 9.28 dial-in and took the Pro win today as Sam Capizzi Jr. broke out in his '73 Dodge. Justin got a slight R.T. advantage in his Roadster, .042 to Sam's .057 light, and that was enough to push Sam into a breakout 13.099 on his 13.11 dial-in. Myles Higby drove to the semifinal finish.
Pro MX
Pro MX action saw Dennis Boston Jr. score an off-the-throttle win over Ryan Orizino. Ryan got the head start dialing in at a 10.33, but cut an uncharacteristic .147 light and couldn't hold off the hard-charging ski-doo of Dennis who dialed in at an 8.78. Dennis ran a .057-initiated, 8.876 at 131.60 mph for the win as Ryan ran off his dial with a 10.363 at 125.32 mph. Bob Salerno was the lone semifinalist.
Street Money
Jon Skellham defeated Howard Roberts in the Street Money final winning both the starting line and finishline in his '68 Chevy. Jon won the start line with a .031 to .063 advantage and tripped the top end timers at a 12.571 at 101.60 mph on his 12.54 dial-in. Howard wasn't far off, but his 10.685 on his 10.64 dial wasn't enough and he had to settle for the runner-up finish. Jenna Lipke and Nicholas Carr both drove to semifinal finishes.
Modified
Gary Rolfe Jr. scored his second-straight Modified win this time by knocking out Myles Higby in a close final round match. As both drivers stared into a setting sun, back-lit tree, Gary held .03 in the bank at the start and ran a .037-over 10.717 at 121.38 mph winning pass. Myles drove his '69 Dodge to a better .018-over 9.918 at 134.79 mph run, but his R.T. deficit put a .011 margin of victory into Gary's lane. Brett Hoffman and Gary French were the semifinalists.
Street Trophy
Steve English returned to the Street Trophy winner circle when he defeated Tim Kirley in their final round duel. Steve held a large .047 to .180 reaction time advantage and drove to a winning 12.392 on his 12.38 dial-in. Tim ran an 11.552 on his 11.50 dial-in for the runner-up finish. Steve Seelman and Kurt Hagen were the semifinalists.
Bike/Sled Trophy
Steve Stone caught the break of the day in his final round match when he left the door open to Kevin Wuest with a .227 reaction time, but Kevin squeezed the tree too much and red lit with a -0.013 foul start. Steve drove his Honda to a 12.704 on his 12.40 dial-in and secured the Bike/Sled Trophy win. Seeing his red light, Kevin just ran it out and clicked off a 10.342 on his 10.36 dial-in for the runner-up finish. Bob Salerno and Jeff Strickler were the semifinalists.
Jr. Dragster
Kimberlee Snell got the win over Alexis Collins in a double-breakout Jr. Dragster final. Alexis got the starting line advantage, but broke out by more when she ran a 7.949 on her 7.97 dial-in. Kimberlee got the win light when she ran a 9.133 at 70.80 mph on her 9.15 dial-in. Jimmy O'Toole was the lone semifinalist.
Stock/Super Stock
Gianni Cantusci drove his '00 Firebird to a .007-over 10.107 at 130.05 mph pass for his class winning final round against Thomas Fletcher. Tom held a slight .009 to .013 reaction time advantage, but broke out on his 10.40 dial with a 10.387 at 126.50 mph runner-up effort. Sam Capizzi Jr. was the lone semifinalist.
American Muscle Pro Stick
Larry Carasea (left) nailed his 9.54 dial-in with a 9.541 at 139.00 mph to score the Pro Stick win over Ron LaRose who broke out in his '61 Corvette. Ron held a slight .046 to .079 R.T. advantage, but broke out with a 9.56 on his 9.61 dial-in. Paul Hun was the semifinalist.
That wraps it up for today's action. See you next Sunday.
