FX Caprara 20K Bracket Weekend - July 25-26

Davis & LaRose Score 10K Wins in 2015 F.X. Caprara Bracket Bash Weekend

Day 1 10K WInner - Troy Davis

July 25-26 - Some of the top "big-money" bounty hunters from the northeast and Canada converged on the ESTA quarter-mile to stake their claim for one of the two $10K-to-Win paychecks, and it is now in the history books as ESTA completed the richest event in track history. The 2-day F.X. Caprara 10K 20K Bracket Bash weekend saw some outstanding driving and Troy Davis and Joey LaRose walk away with some serious coin in their pockets!

Day 1 Runner-up - Scott Forbes

F.X. Caprara 10K Bracket Bash - Day 1
Troy Davis made the trip "South of the Border" a profitable one as he scored the Day 1 $10K first place paycheck when he trailered ESTA-regular Scott Forbes (pictured) in their final round match. Spotting Scott a nearly 2-second head start, Troy nailed the tree with a .512 reaction time and drove around Scott with a 4.763 at 141.08 mph run on his 4.76 dial-in for a tight .015 winning package. Scott opened the door to Troy with his .569 reaction, but his 6.668 at 102.75 mph run on his 6.64 dial-in would not have been enogh to hold off Troy's charging dragster. Terry Scheier and Billy Ryan both cashed out with semifinal finishes to close day one.

Day 2 $10K Winner - Joey LaRose

F.X. Caprara 10K Bracket Bash - Day 2
Day 2's racing saw Joey LaRose spoil Troy Davis' chance at scoring a $20K windfall weekend to score his Day 2 $10K Bounty. Troy had Joey on the tree with a stout .505 to .525 r.t. advantage, but could not run his 4.78 dial and fell off to a 4.904 at 135.11 mph pass for the runner-up finish. Joey dialed in at a 4.98 and clicked off a 5.036 at 125.038 mph pass good for the $10K first place purse. Billy Ryan again cashed out with a semifinal check for an awsome weekend of racing.

Snap-On Tools no-Box Winner - Mark Dobie

Snap-On Tools No-Box
Sunday's No-Box class was presented by Snap-On Tools, Garrett Peterson of Rome, NY and it was Mark Dobie scoring the red-light win over Michael Scribani. Mark got the head start with his 6.48 dial-in  and got off to a .568 r.t. and drove his '68 Nova to a 6.478 at 106.68 mph pass to secure the win. Michael dialed in his '84 Camaro at a slightly faster 6.24, but his heart-breaking .498 red light ended any chance for a win. Michael ran it out to a 6.284 at 104.45 mph pass and settled for the runner-up honors. Mike LaRose drove to a semifinal finish in the class.

Vertical Technologies Jr. Dragster Winner - Hunter Denmark

Jr. Dragster
Hunter Denmark and Shane Bingel lined up for the Vertical Technologies Jr. Dragster final round and it was Hunter scoring the win. Shane broke out on his 8.26 dial-in trying to overcome Hunter's .554 to .632 reaction time advantage, and ran an 8.240 at 78.79 mph run. Hunter dialed in at a 7.90 and comfortably cruised to a 7.963 at 80.53 mph run to score the win. McKenzie Cayea made it the semifinals.

I want to start by thanking all racers who made the trip to ESTA Safety Park this weekend and for making my vision of what a big dollar bracket race come true. From watching some of the racers, anyone of those cars entered this weekend could have won that race.

To all of ESTA staff that went above and beyond of what was expected of them and they were the key to making that show run as smooth as it did so I say THANK YOU FOR YOUR HARD WORK.

Thank you to the sponsors: F.X. Caprara Car Companies, Mickey Thompson tires, Abruzzi Racing Transmissions, K&R Performance products, Precison Crankworks, NAPA Syracuse, Pep Boys North Syracuse, Whites Auto and Speed, K100 Fuel Treatments, and Tru Numbers Dyno.
