Summit E.T. Racing Series - May 17

Race Fuel & Rubber Fills the Air as the 2015 E.T. Racings Series is Kicked Off

May 17 Pro Winner Don Austin

May 17 - As a late rain session forced racing to cease for our scheduled May 10 season opener, great weather on Sunday, May 17 launched the 55th season of Championship NHRA Drag Racing at the Cicero quarter-mile. Final round Boxscores will be posted until Pete's event recap is updated tonight.

Matt Spisak - May 17 Super Pro Winner

Super Pro
Matt Spisak showed up with his newly-acquired dragster and started off where he finished off last season, with a Super Pro win. Matt's final round opponent Vince Musolino also in a dragster held a very slight .509 to .516 reaction time advantage, but the race was decided at the finish line by a mere .009 as Matt won with an 8.040 at 166.50 mph on his 8.01 dial while Vince settled for the runner up spot with a 7.236 at 174.27 mph run on his 7.19 dial. Jack Vault made it to the semi's in his Ford powered dragster..

Pro
Don Austin wheeled his '93 S-10 to the Pro win when Dave Tingley in his '67 Camaro put on the red light. Don also fouled, but since he was giving the head start to Dave his .474 reaction didn't matter. Don went on to run a 10.274 at 131.16 mph on his 10.23 dial for the win. Dave had a .473 foul and runner-upped with a 10.574 at 124.04 mph on is 10.58. Terry Lee and Anthony Zangari were the semifinalists..

May 17 Pro MX Winner Bob Salerno

Pro MX
Bob Salerno got his Pro MX title defense season off to a good start riding his '06 Ski-Doo to the win when he defeated Brian Moulton on his '76 Kawasaki. Bob held a .594 to .639 staring line advantage and won with a 9.949 at 122.95 mph on is 9.92 dial, while Brian ran just under his 10 flat dial in with a 9.998 at 121.91 mph. DJ had a .599 light and ran a 14.026 at 100.43 mph on his 14.05 dial, while his opponent Mike Halsey in his Nova fouled and settled for the runner up spot with an 11.932 at 112.22 mph run on his 11.94 dial in. Randy Reader was the semifinalist..

Modified
Defending Street Money Champ Jordan Reader got himself a sharp looking big block Chevy powered dragster over the off season and he scored the win in Modified defeating Dave Tingley. Dave bulbed with a .495 and threw away a right on the dial 10.58 at 123.94 mph, while Jordan won with an 8.04 at 164.80 mph run on his 8.00 dial. Defending Modified champion Becca Searles lost in the semi's.

Michael Holifield Street Trophy

Street Trophy
Michael Holifield borrowed buddy Clarence Spady's Camaro and won the Street Trophy class after Steve English fouled in his '82 Cutlass. Steve ran a 12.674 at 107.15 mph on his 12.70 dial after his .495 foul, which allowed Mike to snatch the win with a not so good .747 light. But Michael ran right on his 14.65 dial with a 14.658 at 90.69 mph for the win. Mike Chase was the semifinalist.

Bike/Sled Trophy
Khyle Jennison rode his '08 Ski-Doo to the Bike/Sled Trophy win stopping Kevin Wuest on his Polaris. Khyle held a .516 to .560 starting line advantage and parlayed that into the win by running a 10.264 at 109.66 mph run on his 10.15 dial. Kevin ran a 10.811 at 116.84 mph on his 10.74 for the runner up spot. Bob Garguico was the semifinalist.

Natalie Musolino Jr. Dragster

Jr. Dragster
In the Jr. Dragster ranks it was Natalie Musolino driving her Jr. hot rod to the win stopping Ron Klein Jr. who was driving his brand new ride. Natalie held a .514 to .552 reaction time advantage and cruised to a winning 8.962 at 71.75 mph run on her 8.90 dial in. Ron settled for the runner up spot with a 7.954 at 81.67 mph run on his 7.90 dial in. Defending points champ Dunham Hall made it to the semis as did Alexis Collins.

The track was in excellent condition and the racers took advantage of it to get the season started off with a blast.
