Summit E.T. Racing Series - June 9

Mark Talmadge Launches to Super Pro Win

Talmadge, Rioscolon, Boston & English Score Pro Wins

June 9 - Today we were finally able to get our 2013 Summit E.T.Series underway and we had a perfect sunny day. We were forced to run this race 1/8 mile due to the fact that the end of the track and return road were flooded from the week's worth of rain that we endured, but noone seemed to mind we were just glad to be racing again. The new 330' concrete starting line provided plenty of hook and the racing action was great.

Super Pro
In Super Pro it was Mark Talmadge in his trusty '75 Vega scoring the win defeating Josh Speck who was driving his very fast '94 Beretta. Mark had a .514 to .528 reaction time advantage and that was the difference as both racers ran .02 off their respective dial in's. Mark ran a 6.157 at 111.45 mph on his 6.13 dial and Josh ran a 4.824 at 138.99 mph on his 4.80 dial in for the runner up spot. Howie Smith in his new dragster lost to Josh in the semi's and Joe LaRose in his new dragster lost to Mark in the semi's.

 Fausto Rioscolon Pro WinPro
Fausto Rioscolon in his '72 Cuda struck first in Pro when he defeated the always tough Terry Lee who was driving his Chevy powered '89 Mustang. The reactions were close with Fausto holding the edge .547 to .554 and he carded the win with a 6.262 at 109.20 mph run on his 6.23 dial, while Terry had to settle for the runner-up spot with a 6.694 at 100.90 mph run on his 6.57 dial. Anthony Platania was the semifinalist.

Pro MX
Pro MX racing saw Dennis Boston on his '03 Ski-Doo stop defending points champ Chrissy Klein who was riding her '02 Polaris. Dennis had a .546 light and ran a 5.703 at 114.46 mph on his 5.68 dial for the win, while Chrissy settled for the runner-up with a .580-initiated 6.847 at 100.49 mph run on her 6.83 dial. Ryan Orizino was the semifinalist.

Street Money
Defending Street Money champ Steve English got his season off to a good start as he drove his '82 Cutlass to the win by stopping Rod Skinner in his Malibu Wagon. Steve had a.571 light and ran right on his 8.04 dial in with an 8.043 at 85.72 mph while Rod took the runner up money home with a .607-initiated, 7.784 at 86.71 mph on his 7.76 dial. Chad Blair was the semifinalist.

In Modified, Don Austin in his '93 S-10 took care of a red lighting Myles Higby in his '69 Dart. Don had a .536 reaction and ran a 6.433 at 107.86 mph on his 6.44 prediction. Myles had the .473 bulb and ran it out to a 6.450 at 105.58 mph on his 6.46 dial. Don Leppard was the semifinalist.

Street Trophy
Rod Skinner was able to score the win in Street Trophy when he defeated Chad Blair. Both drivers were dialed in at 7.76, but Rod had the better light .518 to .587 and ran a 7.845 at 86.37 mph for the win, while Chad ran 7.821 at 86.70 mph in his runner up effort. Todd Minerd and Steve English were semifinalists.

Bike/Sled Trophy
Ryan Orizino rode his fast '01 Arctic Cat to the win in Bike/Sled Trophy after John Kufhta red lighted on his '89 Polaris. Ryan had a .572 light and ran 5.871 at 120.04 mph on his 5.75 dial in. John had a .471 bulb and ran 6.667 at 96.94 mph on his 6.67 dial. Ryan Yarah and Chrissy Klein were the semifinalists.

Ron Klein Jr. wins Jr. Dragster

Jr. Dragster
Ron Klein Jr. debuted his new 2013 Mike Bos dragster in fine fashion as he took the Jr. Dragster class win today. Ron used a .534 light and ran a 7.968 at 79.76 mph on his 7.90 dial in to defeat Shane Bingel in his '07 Halfscale dragster. Shane had a .600 light and ran an 8.945 at 72.57 mph on his 8.90 dial in for the runner-up spot. Karli Doig and Jenna Lipke were the semifinalists.

That will wrap up the action for today. I would like to thank everyone for their patience while the construction work was going on and it appears that the starting line project was a success and will be a great benefit. I also want to mention how saddened we all are that Moe Tucker, who has been involved with ESTA since it's early days and who was one of our board members passed away recently. Rest in peace Moe we will miss you.
