Summit E.T. Racing Series - July 8

Justin Hardman launches

July 8 - We returned to a regular Summit Racing E.T. Racing Series event on Sunday under clear skies and sunshine.

78spSuper Pro
The Super Pro final came down to some family bragging rights to the winner as Carl Drake Sr. in his ’67 Chevy raced against his son Carl Jr. (CJ) who was in his dragster. CJ held a .508 to .517 reaction time advantage in the final and won with a 7.543 at 164.20 mph on his 7.55 dial, while Sr. settled for the runner up spot with a 9.082 at 147.46 mph run on his 9.11 dial. Nate Powers drove well all day and was rewarded with a semifinal round finish.

Justin Hardman scored for the second time in three weeks driving his ’95 Camaro to the win by stopping it’s former owner Steve Doss who was in his ’85 Monte Carlo. Justin laid a .509 light on Steve and throttled his way to the win with a 10.562 at 127.08 mph run on his 10.50 dial in. Steve had to settle for his second straight runner up with a .549 initiated, 10.157 at 131.96 mph run on his 10.13. Terry Lee fouled to Justin in the semis.

Pro MX
Fred Jacobs scored the Pro MX win on his ’91 Suzuki stopping last week’s winner Ryan Orizino on his ’96 Arctic Cat. Fred used a .549 r.t. and matched his 9.40 dial in with a 9.408 at 135.52 mph effort to turn back Ryan’s .571 initiated, 10.292 at 122.25 mph run on his 10.26 dial in. Chrissy Klein was the semifinalist.

Street Money
Andrea Bisson let one slip away today in the Street Money final. Driving her ’70 Pontiac Andrea held a .559 to .589 r.t. advantage, but she ran under her 11.52 dial with an 11.473 at 103.17 mph which allowed Brad Horton in his ’95 Chevy to grab the win with a 14.121 at 97.40 mph run on his 14.00 dial in. Dick Aversa and Ted Lewis were the semifinalists.

In Modified it was Fausto Rioscolon taking the win on a bye run, as his opponent Jason Leppard could not make the call. Fausto's second straight Modified win enabled him to wrestle the points lead away from Ken Miller who held a stranglehold on the class the first half of the season. Karl Woolworth was the semifinalist.

Street Trophy
Rod Skinner wheeled his sharp looking Malibu Wagon to the Street Trophy win by stopping Ted Lewis who was driving his Monte Carlo. Rod had a .563 light and ran an 11.755 at 112.17 mph on his 11.72 dial in, while Ted fouled with a .490 and threw away his 12.824 at 104.95 mph run on his 12.81 dial in and took the runner up spot. Dave Zangari and Dick Aversa were the semifinalists.

Bike/Sled Trophy
The Bike/Sled Trophy final came down to Rick Fies on his ’06 Suzuki against Jeff Taylor on his ’70 Harley. Rick had a .618 to .748 starting line edge and won with an 8.844 at 144.63 mph run on his 8.79 dial in, while Jeff had to settle for the runner up spot with a 9.999 at 129.30 mph run on his 9.98 dial.
