Super Pro Winner Billy Caprara

Pro Rookie Hardman Slays the "Giant"

June 17 - We had another great Sunday for drag racing with plenty of sunshine and a nice breeze that kept the warm temperatures feel not so bad. Here is the rundown of our 6th Summit E.T. Points Series race.

Super Pro
In Super Pro it was Billy Caprara taking the win in his Chevy powered dragster. Billy had a .542 reaction time and ran right on his 7.55 dial in with a 7.552 at 177.14 mph to turn back Jack Vault in his Ford powered dragster. Jack had a .535 r.t., but ran under his 7.49 dial in with an oh-so-close 7.484 at 180.01 mph runner up effort. Vince Musolino lost in the semi’s to Jack.

Pro
Justin Hardman has made the transition from Jr. dragsters to the "big" cars just fine as he scored his first win in Pro today by knocking off many time winner Mike LaRose in the final round. “J Rock” drove his ’95 Camaro to a .525 initiated, 10.501 at 121.64 mph run on his 10.46 dial to stop Mike who drove his ’69 Dart to a runner up .543 r.t. and running under his 10.40 dial in with a 10.392 at 126.00 mph. Skip Zegarelli was the semifinalist.

Pro MX
John Kufhta rode his ’89 Polaris to the Pro MX win stopping Ryan Orizino who was riding his ’96 Arctic Cat. John held a .512 to .546 starting line advantage and he won with a 11.019 at 111.10 mph run on his 11.03 dial in. Ryan settled for the runner up spot with a 10.211 at 123.98 mph on his 10.16 dial. Fred Jacobs was the semifinalist on his '91 Suzuki.

Street Money
Todd Minerd who had all sorts of running problems with his ’79 Camaro last Sunday got it all fixed for this week and he won the Street Money class when he defeated Rod Skinner in his Malibu Wagon. Todd had a .528 light and ran a 12.935 at 95.53 mph on his 12.91 dial while Rod had a .562 light and ran an 11.637 at 113.88 mph on his 11.54 dial in. Steve English and Joe Bird were the semifinalists.

Modified
Ken Miller wheeled his ’72 Maverick to the Modified crown today as he stopped Don Leppard who was driving his ’87 Chevy. Ken held a .524 to .536 r.t. advantage and ran a 10.773 at 123.01 mph on his 10.72 dial to stop Don who ran under his 10.86 dial in with a 10.856 at 123.89 mph for the runner up spot. Matt Spisak was the semifinalist.

Street Trophy
Joe Bird took the Street Trophy win in his ’94 Pontiac stopping Street winner Todd Minerd in the final. Todd lit the red light with a .468 foul and shutting off to a 13.14 on his 12.92 dial in. Joe had a safe .630 light and won with a 13.915 at 99.10 mph run on his 13.98 dial. Ted Lewis was the semifinalist.

Bike/Sled Trophy
“Fast” Freddie Jacobs wheeled his ’91 Suzuki to the win in Bike/Sled Trophy when he stopped current co champ Kevin Wuest on his ’97 Polaris. Freddie held a slight .600 to .617 r.t. advantage and won it with a 9.299 at 145.61 mph run on his 9.30 dial. Kevin ran further under his dial trying to hold off Freddie with a 10.708 at 117.19 mph on his 10.75 prediction. Skip Tamburino was the semifinalist.

Jr. Dragster "A"
Jake Lipke was able to keep his Jr. dragster ahead of Morgan Bunal in the “A” class final and score the win. Jake held a .533 to .601 reaction time advantage and he ran 8.01 at 79.63 mph on his 7.98 dial to turn back Morgan’s 7.947 at 82.87 mph run on her 7.92 dial in. Ron Klein Jr. was the semifinalist.

 Jr. Dragster "B"
Daniel Thorpe grabbed the win in Jr. “B” denying Jenna Lipke from joining her brother Jake in the ESTA winner’s circle. Danny held a huge .502 to .616 starting line advantage and he clicked off a 13.003 at 49.76 mph run on his 12.90 dial in to stop Jenna who had to settle for the runner up spot with a 8.937 at 73.05 mph run on her 8.90 dial. Gracie Snyder was the semifinalist.
