Steve English Win Street Showdown

Bedell Bros. Sweep Jr. Dragster Action 

June 10 - It was a hot one on Sunday, but racers perservered and it was Steve English scoring the Street Showdown win over Butch Bunal who was driving his son Matt's Camaro while Matt is away at college. The Street Showdown was the first class Showdown of the season that posted top payouts for the Street Money class. Pete's full race recap will follow shortly. 

Super Pro

Gene Stankivitz III drove his ’81 Malibu Wagon through the dragster dominated Super Pro field and took the final round win over Kenny Taylor who was driving his Chevy powered dragster. Gene held a .516 to .532 starting line advantage to secure the win with a 6.661 at 99.08 mph run on his 6.65 prediction. Kenny who was dialed in at 5.55 ran 5.572 at 120.63 mph to take the runner up cash. Tom Samsel was the semifinalist.

Pro
Mike LaRose was at it again in Pro this week as he wheeled his ’69 Dart to the win after he stopped Gary Rolfe Jr. who was driving his ’85 S-10. Mike had a big advantage at the starting line with a .547 to .615 advantage. Mike ran a 6.657 at 95.31 mph run on his 6.57 dial. Gary settled for the runner up spot with a 7.490 at 92.01 mph run on his 7.46 dial in. John Pierson was the lone semifinalist.

Fred Jacobs Pro MXPro MX
Fred Jacobs rode his ’91 Suzuki to the Pro MX win when he defeated a red lighting Heath Smith who was riding his ’07 Polaris. Fred won it with a great .504 eaction and he ran a 6.059 at 109.03 mph run on his 6.00 dial. Heath shut off and saved his parts. Shawn Fetter and Ryan Orizino were the semifinalists.

Street Money
Steve English drove his ’82 Cutlass to the Street Showdown win when he stopped Butch Bunal who was driving his ’91 Camaro. Steve took the cash and the specially made trophy home with a .577 initiated, 8.291 at 78.68 mph run on his 8.25 dial in. Butch, who has not raced competitively in quite some time did a great job reaching the final, but he had a late .719 reaction time and settled for the runner up spot with a 8.240 at 83.60 mph run on his 8.22 dial. Super Pro competitor James Smith Jr. drove his new Audi to the semis.

Modified
Ken Miller took the Modified win driving his familiar ’72 Maverick stopping Don Austin who was in his recently purchased ’93 S-10. In a very close double break out final round Ken had a .578 light and ran a 6.837 at 99.08 mph on his 6.85 dial in. Don ran a bit further under his 6.53 dial in with a 6.513 at 105.09 mph. Fred Wieczerzak was the semifinalist.

Street Trophy 
Tom Fortino in his ’98 Pontiac took the Street Trophy win after he stopped Ted Lewis who was driving his ’86 Chevy. Tom ran a 9.147 at 74.71 mph on his 9.15 dial, while Ted ran a bit further under his 8.12 dial in with an 8.10 at 84.56 mph runner up effort. Rick Boland and Clarence Spady were the semifinalists.

Skip TamburinoBike/Sled Trophy
Skip Tamburino rode his ’06 Kawasaki to the Bike/Sled Trophy win stopping Chrissy Klein on her ’02 Polaris. Skip gave up a small .007 advantage on the start, but stayed on the plus side of his 6.08 dial-in running a 6.114 at 110.82 mph run. Chrissy ran a tad too fast 6.232 at 107.36 mph run on her 6.24 dial in her effort to hold Skip's Kawasaki. Ryan Orizino was the semifinalist.

Jr. Dragster "A"
Tyler BeDell has not been out at all so far this year so today he shows up and took the Jr. Dragster “A” class win when he stopped the always tough to beat Kimberly Klein. Tyler held the starting line advantage .579 to .598 and is father Bill had him dialed correctly as he ran right on his 8.00 dial in with an 8.002 at 80.53 mph winning pass. Kimberly settled for the runner up spot with a breakout 7.953 at 80.80 mph run on her 8.01 dial. Paige DeSalvo fouled in the semis to Kim and was the lone semifinalist.

Jr. Dragster "B"
Not to be out done by his big brother, Casey BeDell drove his own Jr. dragster to the win in the Jr. Dragster “B” class. Casey caught a break in the final as both he and runner up Kerstin Harris both missed the tree, but his .777 initiated 8.913 at 74.52 mph run on his 8.90 dial was enough to defeat her .824 initiated 8.904 at 71.29 mph run on her 8.92 dial in. Jazmyne Short and Jenna Lipke were the semifinalists.
